Sarah’s passion for photography began in the darkroom, watching a print develop. While in graduate school, she became involved with WORKS/San Jose, an artist-run non-profit art and performance space and served on their board for many years. Sarah received her Master of Fine Arts in Photography from San Jose State University and her photographs have been exhibited nationally. Along with her interest in non-silver processes, these experiences led to a career in the museum field. She was Curator of Art & Photography at History San Jose for ten years, and worked at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts in Alabama before coming here to assume the role of Curator of Photography/ Photo Archivist.

When the United States Navy’s Naval Aircraft Factory in Philadelphia needed to ramp up their labor force in early 1918, it began to train and employ women. According to William F.
