Blood Drive

April 6 @ 10:00 AM-3:00 PMEDT

The Mariner’s Museum and Park is partnering with the American Red Cross once again, serving as a host site for a critical blood drive. The need is urgent more than ever as the blood supply is very low, and the Red Cross is also providing aid to the families affected by the current Ukraine crisis.

Donors of ALL blood types are always needed, and the Red Cross is also accepting the following blood types: A+, B+, A-, B-, O- and O+ for “Power Reds” appointments.*In addition, the Red Cross will resume testing all donations for COVID-19 antibodies for a limited time to identify potential units that can be manufactured into convalescent plasma.

Save a life, give blood.

Did you know that your donation can save up to THREE lives?

Participants can also visitredcrossblood.org, and enter “Mariners” to schedule an appointment.

*There’s a minimum height and weight requirement for “Power Red” donors. Be sure you meet those requirements before scheduling an appointment.

The Mariners’ Museum and the American Red Cross will be following all health and safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID. Here are a few things to know:

  • Staff, volunteers, and blood donors will be required to wear face masks and socially distance regardless of vaccination status.
  • We encourage donors to bring their own face mask that covers both their nose and mouth. If a donor does not have a mask, we will provide one. If a donor does not want to wear a mask, we ask that they postpone their donation for a later date.
  • Proof of vaccination will not be a requirement. We trust that our blood donors will provide honest responses.
  • There will be hand sanitizer available, and access to wash hands in the blood drive area.

Both the Museum and the Red Cross are committed to operating the blood drive in the safest way possible for donors, volunteers, and staff.
